What is the purpose of an "initial consultation?”
- This consultation is a brief introduction between a potential client and myself
- During this call you will be asked what issue(s) you may seeking help for, demographic information, and to get a feel if I am the right “fit” for what you're seeking
- This encounter also provides a space for potential clients to ask any questions they may have regarding psychotherapy, availability, scheduling, group availability, telehealth, rates, etc.
- One of the strongest factors in determining client success from psychotherapy revolves around the rapport, or relationship, between the client and clinician
You are always able to voice your concerns or questions; if you believe that I may not the “right” fit for you, there will be no hard feelings!
Similarly, if I believe I may not be a good fit or am unable to provide the services you are seeking, I will inform you and provide referrals to other providers who may be a better fit at no cost.
If one or both of us realize we may not be a good fit together for whichever reason, I will gladly share several referrals to other providers who may be better able to help you.
